About our tea room
Open from 10am to 4pm
A tempting range, including vegetarian and gluten free options, of homemade cakes (including vegan alternatives), tray bakes, scones, sandwiches, quiches, pasties and other treats are available, such as our Bolton Pie, along with a selection of teas, coffees and soft drinks. Locally sourced produce is used wherever possible.
You are welcome to visit the tea room without the need to purchase admission tickets to the castle.
The Tea Room is accessed via a flight of stairs into the castle.
Unfortunately we do not allow dogs into the main tea room but we have provided a table and chairs just outside for dogs and their owners.
You can also sit in the top area of the gardens with your dog as we do provide a take away service.
Large Bookings
Please note that any large groups must be booked in advance and the tea room occasionally closes when weddings are taking place in the castle.
Please see our visitor information page for more information.
Vouchers & Offers
Whether you’ve been to the top of the tower, explored the gardens or got lost in our maze, everyone deserves a quintessential Afternoon Tea in a castle. Available by appointment only, it’s served on a tiered stand with freshly homemade savouries (including a slice of our Bolton Pie with chutney or quiche), warm fruit scones with jam and clotted cream, and a selection of sweet treats — perfectly paired with fine English tea or great coffee at a linened table. Ideal as a gift or a little ‘me-time’, it tastes as good as it looks.
